ACES

Advanced Control of Energy Systems (ACES) is a multidisciplinary group whose members belong to the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC,[1]) or to the Higher Council of Science Research of Spain (CSIC,[2]). In particular, they belong to the Institute of Industrial and Control Engineering (IOC,[3]) and to the Institute of Industrial Robotics and Computation (IRI,[4]). UPC members teach in the departments of the Automatic Control, Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Applied Mathematics IV.

The aim of the group is to contribute to the progress of scientific knowledge, the training of specialized personnel and the diffusion of technological advances, in the field of modelling and control of complex systems, and its application to problems related to the generation, conditioning, management and storage of electrical energy.

The facilities of the group include laboratories of control, power electronics, electrical drives and fuel cells, together with the ancillary instrumentation and equipment to perform experimental validations. As for higher education, the group participates at the UPC in four masters (robotics and automation, applied mathematics, engineering mathematics and electronics) and three PhD programmes (Automation Robotics and Vision, Applied Mathematics and Electronics).
